Golden Milk for Sleep

Getting a good night’s sleep is very important. A full eight hours of shut-eye helps to repair the mind and body. If you are trying to lose or maintain a healthy weight, a good night’s sleep is can help you achieve that goal. But what if sleep eludes you no matter what you do?

This is the situation in which I have found myself for many years. When I was in high school, I slept all the time. I thought I might be narcoleptic. When I became a full-fledged adult and moved out on my own, I began having trouble sleeping. I have hardly had a good night’s sleep since, which has been more than 20 years. In the past 20+ years, I have tried just about everything to be able to sleep better.

I know my sleeping woes are stress related. Most nights I fall asleep within the first five minutes of hitting the pillow from sheer exhaustion. My troubles lie in staying asleep. Most nights I would wake up after a few hours of sleep, and then I couldn’t go back to sleep. I would lay there for a couple of hours. Then, within 30 minutes of my alarm going off to wake me up, I would fall back to sleep. Oh the sheer torture!! And then there’s the game of, “If I go back to sleep right now, I can get X number of hours of sleep.” I have tried praying, meditating, breathing in lavender oil, reading, you-name-it, and none of it consistently worked to help me get back to sleep.

In my recent quests to figure out a solution to my sleep problem, I kept finding articles about drinking warm milk with nutmeg. Also, in my quest to find recipes containing turmeric, I came across an Ayurvedic recipe for golden milk. So I decided to combine the two and I came up with something that seems to be working. I have been doing this for a few weeks now, and it has been a great success. Try golden milk for sleep. It’s a natural sleep aid that works!

If you have had trouble sleeping, I hope this recipe can help you.

Your golden milk will look like this when it is ready.

Turmeric and ginger are great anti-inflammatory spices. The cayenne or black pepper combined with the fat of the milk helps your body utilize all of the great turmeric benefits. Ginger will also help your digestive system. I have also been drinking my Golden Chai Tea every morning, so I’m getting a lot of beneficial spices every day. Try it out, and let me know if it works for you. Sweet dreams!
